• Did you know that 76104 is the zip code with the lowest life expectancy in Texas? While the state average is 78.5 years, the average for 76104 is 66.7.

• If you want to buy fresh produce or unprocessed food in 76104, your options are limited. A 2013 study identifies this area as a food apartheid.

• While food apartheid and poverty contribute to the low life expectancy of the area, police brutality is also responsible for lives lost too soon. Atatiana Jefferson was murdered by Fort Worth Police in her mother’s home on October 12, 2019. A mural in her memory stands at the corner of Evans and E. Allen in 76104, a few blocks from her home.
